Hi,
I just received this email from Onetel
Dear Frank,
We have identified some calls, which you made in October 2004 that have not yet been billed to you. Unfortunately because of a data error in our systems these calls were not included in your October bill but will appear in your next bill.
Please be assured that these calls have not been billed before. You may wish to use the Bill Analyser in My Account to verify this, as this function stores six months of your billed history.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Yours sincerely,
Now this will be interesting as I cancelled my Onetell account last Dec 04 and this email was dated 0/04/05.
Now my initial thoughts is tough on Onetel and it is a bit of a cheek.
Has anyone else had a email like this as I assume the 'data error' will not effect just one individual but everyone.
Any lawyers out there who might like to give a legal slant on this as I am in no mood to give Onetel any more of my cash.
Thanks
Frank

Just because they are late billing the calls makes no difference to your liability to pay for them.
And just because you've since closed your account makes no difference either.
If I were you, I would pay the debt due and avoid the risk of adverse credit/collection costs/etc being added to the cost.0 -
If satisfied about the call details, I'd pay too. You've used the service; what's wrong with paying for it?
If your employer discovered they mislaid your timesheet and hadn't paid you any overtime you'd be a bit upset if they said it was tough luck0 -
I agree with MarkyMark and Andy, if you're happy you made the calls referred to then I'd pay as I don't think it makes a difference how long ago you were with them - you can still be held liable especially as were looking at only 6months ago!
If you don't want to pay or refute the calls they refer to then it could be a long battle with small claims court and this could ultimately go against you with ccj's. You would need to produce a bank statement to prove how much they took off you during Oct and Nov (just in case) and compare with what is held on their records.0 -
GOSH!
how much are we talking aabout. Anythink more than £2.50 i'd fight them all the way.
Available options:
1. small claims court
2. local MP
3. telecom ombudsman
4. national press
5. tv
6. house of lords
7. EEC Brussels
8. Kofi Annan
9. Beano letters page
if all fails you could always sell all assets in the UK & move to Zimbabwe where you'd no doubt be most welcome!0 -
Just checked my online bill and there's a charge of 0-69p for an October call. They can take it out of the £20 credit for changing to the Leisure Talk tarrif offered last month;)0
