car insurance no claims bonus

i have not owned a car for a few years so hence dont have any no claims bonus. i have never had a bump and i am mid 30s yet all the insurance companies really punish me with premium costs as i dont have any no claims bonus. im thinking of buying a car this year but dont intend to use it that much. i feel i will be a great deal for any insurance company. are there any companies that may offer me a decent quote in my circumstanes?

Hi - try confused.com and insuresupermarket.com as suggested on this site.Another worth trying is elephant.co.uk.All of these should give an introductory discount if you have driven other peoples cars regularly.If you have had regular use of a company car or van quite a few companies will allow nearly a full ncd for this but will ask for written evidence from the company.

can anyone help.i did get up to 5 years no-claims,then i decided to sell the car and bought a motor bike,which i had for about three years.ive now sold the bike and want to go back to a car,problem is,ive been told all my no claims bonus has gone and i have to start from scratch.i think it stinks,just because you go to a different mode of transport,you still pay insurance,why does it not carry over.does anyone know what to do......
