I've had 4 this morning at work - by 10am!! We've registered with the TPS too.
I know people have to work and l feel sorry for them because it can't be an easy job but it does get on my nerves. A quick 'no thankyou' sometimes works but sometimes - especially with the international callers - it just makes them talk much faster to keep me on the line and stop me putting the phone down.
I just wondered if anyone here has ever done this and what was your worst experience. I'm thinking about the youtube sound recording of a man from BT (l think) it was when the man at the other end just exploded with rage and the poor man on the line said timidly at the end said to a colleague 'Christ, did you get that?'
:rotfl:
I have to remember these are people at the end of the phone, l'm not rude but it does grate when you've answered another 'you've had a loan and could claim back thousands of £s you overpaid and didn't know it' calls.

I worked for an outsourced company in 2010 on behalf of one of the main mobile networks on outbound up-selling & I hated it from day one! I lasted five months before my Doctor put me out with stress & I quit a month later.
You were set a daily target of five sales & if you didn't get them, you were expected to make it up the next day or work the weekend. Some of the salespeople would lie thru their back teeth to get the sale & quite often did promise the earth.
It was the only job I've ever done where I didn't know if I'd have a job that night, some days when I went into work the would be nowhere to sit as staff turnover was so high, they would have more workers than seats!A few times I'd come back from lunch to find a person sitting opposite me or in the team I was in had been sacked that morning.0 -
I done it for about 5 years for an energy company. Made an absolute fortune.

I sold double glazing for a couple of years and had to go 'knocking' to get most of the leads. I made a living but hated it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

and that's where salesmen get bad press but as you say it's the bosses who make the targets.....
Sounds terrible spike

As a salesperson, what is the point of ringing from a withheld number and then not leaving any message to identify yourself. You are wasting your time. I NEVER answer calls with withheld numbers (or unrecognised/ 08 numbers) and have amended my voicemail to tell callers that. If it is a genuine caller, they can leave a message and I will ring back.
One such unidentified caller keeps ringing on my landline and then on my mobile straight away0 -
I must pee a good few off, I simply pretend to be interested then slowly miss hear everything they say, ask them to repeat it, then get it wrong again! Hey it does pass the time...0
