Small loan

Hello everyone,

I am a EU citizen living in the UK, I am currently working part time and studying. Due to some expenses that I will be facing, I would like to know where I could get a small loan, let's say around £250. I Have an account with Lloyds TSB and I've been living in the UK for just 3 months.

  • Approach your bank for an overdraft.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, but how does it work? Once I ask the overdraft, for example can I withdraw money from an ATM machine even if I don't have them or it just works with direct payments set with your account so they let you go below 0?
  • You would be able to draw cash up to your overdraft limit once it was approved. But don't go over the arranged amount as the charges are high.

  • oh ok I see, thank you very much for your help, I think that's what I will do.
  • One more question, when do you have to pay back the interest free-fee amount?
  • It may not be interest free. The bank will tell you whether you will be charged and how long they will allow you to have it for.
  • Im pretty sure Lloyds require customers to be resident the UK for 3 years + before allowing any credit products.

    save up spare cash?
    sell some stuff?
  • Tony I thought about that too but unfortunately I don't have those 2 options also bc I just got here so I don't have anything to sell.

Anyway does anybody know if Barclays requires customers to be resident in the Uk for 3 years for an overdraft as well?
