My daughter is going to London to see the Queen..

My 4 year old daughter recently took a great interest in the Queen and wondered why she had never seen her, I let her search the internet and told her about the Queens birthday parade in London. My daughter asked to write to the Queen to ask if she could "Come to your birthday parade?" well surprise surprise on Saturday morning, in the post, arrives a letter with details of 3 allocated tickets for the Birthday Parade on 16th June 2007.

I really need help in finding a good quality, centrally located hotel.

On the trip will be my daughter, my DH and myself and we will have one day spare, one day of the parade and then back home. I would like to take my daughter to the Tower of London to see the crown jewels but apart from that I think perhaps some shopping!

Any advice most welcome (p.s. i will be booking this later today, as I have managed to secure good flight costs)

Thanks in advance

whats your budget for the hotel?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Go for these and use the saving on meals out. I think a lot of the hotels in London in the £150 range are VERY poor value for money.

what a lovely letter to get!

Would really recommend visiting the tower of london. Also if you have the time take the river ferry up to Greenwich. Its lovely on a warm day.

    Have a brilliant time xxx

  • I just booked a family room at the hilton docklands inc breakfast. It was £205 for two nights in june for myself DS and OH. booked through

    http://www.londontown.com/hotels/

have used them a lot, they have always been cheapest so far.

We stayed in travel lodge in covent garden last time the £15 deal was on. clean, quiet, helpful staff but i thought breakfast was expensive compared with other hotels we have stayed in.

    hope you enjoy

Yeh - what a great thing to happen - put a smile on my face - our queen rocks!!

I'm gonna get my daughter to start writing a similar letter when I get home (she's only 11 months, but hey, I can forge childs writing :p )

About hotel accommodation - take a serious search through Trip Advisor for London. Your budget is reasonable, but as many people said, hotel quality in London is SO variable, especially around your price range. As much as I hate chains, at least you know what you are getting for your money at a Travelodge, Hilton etc.
  • Thanks to all for your lovely messages and guidance..:T

    I have booked through http://www.londontown.com/ with Hilton hotels 3 nights dinner/ bed breakfast @ £148 per night. A great price, I think.:j

My daughter is just so excited and was asking how many sleeps? aww bless..

I think we will take in the Tower of London & the London Eye and of course SHOPPING!!!

    Thanks again to all

Just remembered that there's an Express by Holiday Inn at Greenwich, handy for the tube as well as the river ferry.

*oops - posted at same time but my message didn't show till a bit later - some glitches with the forums today
