Money gone missing with Halifax

Hi,
My grandparents set up a trustee account for me that matured in 2010, but didn't mention it to me until recently.
Have the last correspondance from June 2010 with the reference numbers on there - went to redeem it with Halifax and there was a lot of back and forth over whether I could move it or my grandparents could.
Eventually it was agreed I could, went to go in to move the money, but they've said the account was closed and that they don't know where the money has gone.
Does anyone have any advice, would be really appreciated as this is stressing me out!
Many thanks in advance

Every movement of money in every bank and building society will have a unique reference number - the same ref is applied to the debit and credit sides of the transaction. If they (or you) get that ref from an old statement they will be able to trace the money via their computer system and see where they put it.
They are required by law to keep records for 7 years (might be more) so certainly they should have them going back to 2010. If they have changed computer systems since then, they would be obliged in law to keep archives of their old system for events such as this.
I don't suppose anyone wants to get involved in finding the money for you as it could be a long and boring task. I think you will need to get a bit pushy !
Good lck

I am wondering whether you could use the account tracing service.
