Just like that.
Theres now just loads of money being wasted on a farce involving people discussing and checking whether Greece should get even more debt. We all know it will, regardless of what the books look like!
Meanwhile the ECB are pretending they are unaware of this extension.

They would like to keep pretending this until after next year's German elections, but I don't think that they will manage it."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
Greek they remind me of our PS workers and defecit deniers, they all march together comrade to comrade they all know money needs to either be raised or services cut but none of them want it to be their service or their tax lol, yet they march next to a bloke they probably feel should burden the tax/cut.
The Greeks created their own downfall, even without a global meltdown eventually the retire at 50 and employ more and more PS workers was always going to catch up with them.
They are lucky to have the extension0 -
The German government has presumably decided that it can afford to be somewhat more generous to its future Greek province in order to keep the locals a bit quieter in the meantime. The majority of the German population still appears to be of the mind that all of this is a price worth paying for German hegemony in Europe. Is any candidate with a serious chance going to take a completely different tack at their next general election ? I rather doubt it.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Depends whose word you believe.
Were the comments made for domestic or international consumption? I suspect the former.
The devil will be in the detail though.0 -

Once a Greek, always a Greek. It's not in the mediterrenean mindset to be frugal and prudent with money. It's like trying to teach a cat to bark.0 -

True.
I become increasingly tired at seeing bailout after bailout and believe it should now be considered a final default. No different from a mortgage really. You try to be helpful. You give more time. You help them out temporarily, but eventually the time comes to repossess.
We should repossess immediately. My inital thought was a land based attack with German tanks, but my worry is that neighbours like Albania and Bulgaria might get the wrong idea. Turkey is another alternative but I'm worried about the muslim angle on that one.
So it looks like it will have to be a sea-based assault. Not sure, however, on how many U-boats Germany has, or the size of the navy. So what does everyone recommend? Would France lend a few ships or better still some aircraft carriers? Would the EU expect UK to send a few Royal Marines or something even though we are not in the Eurozone?
Or can we safely assume that Angela and her people are sorting all this out and doing the detailed planning now?
After the repossession, of course, I expect all Greeks to be forced to live on the mainland while they hold an "auction" of all the islands. I'd like to think the UK could pick up one or two nice ones at a knock down price. Then I could retire there (to a British Island), and get the sun plus not have any language difficulties, or bear the currency risk of the Euro.0 -

You forgot to mention the G + T or are you full of it?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I like this idea, it's a shame it won't happen.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
That's an idea, flog a couple of islands off.
I bet the Turks would like Kos
We could have Corfu back
Santorini would go for a kings ransom to a billionaire
Oh wait......the Greeks would only blow ££££ the money it would need to go direct to the Germans lol0
