Does anyone know why FR2492 from LBA 16/10 was delayed?

Long shot I know but ........ our incoming flight from LBA to TFS on the 16th was 10 hours late coming in and a few of us are considering claiming under EU261

RA said it was poor weather at LBA but similar flights to the Canaries left with minimal delay [FR2048 and LS223]
It had to make a stop at Stansted en-route to pick up a new crew before continuing so they were obviously tight on their hours.
So just wondering if there was more to it than what they've said and if any one had any more info.
Someone we were talking to had had a text saying the outbound passengers had been sat on the tarmac for 3 hours+ waiting to take off before being off-loaded back into the terminal.

It'll come as no surprise that RA management of the situation with food vouchers etc. at TFS was shocking.

TIA

It left LBA at 2.38pm arriving at Stansted at 3.12pm.It was flying a bit further to the south than normal until it reached Manchester when it turned to head towards Stansted. It left just before 4pm according to flightradar24.com . You may be able to find out more if you create an account on flightstats (free) as you can't get historical data without one. There was no squawk 7700 (emergency) as far as I can see. Incidentally the Ryanair Birmingham to Alicante flight today has declared one and landed at Limoges. I was once on a plane from Leeds to Malaga that had to put down at Bournemouth to refuel. They couldn't put enough fuel in as a plane had skidded off the runway and closed some of the length.

Thanks for that, I can't really see any more info than you've managed to find.
There was a suggestion that they were too heavy for the weather conditions to take off, I can see that being a possibility but I would have thought if that were the case they'd do something similar to your experience of a flight and refuel somewhere rather than allow a 10 hour delay, I suspect they would have had to take more fuel at Stansted as well as a new crew anyway

Had a further look at this and the same plane reg no. EI-EKX made 2 return trips to TFS that day. 1st one was 2484/2485 and 2nd one 2492/2493. The LBA website says Ryanair only have 1 flight there on a tuesday , Ryanair server is down. Maybe they put an extra flight on due to demand but there wasn't a spare plane?

Thanks guys, that adds a bit of clarity to the whole saga

I'll have a good crack at getting RA to fork out

Think you've got your TSF (Treviso, Venice) mixed up with your TFS (Tenerife South), bondy01! One return flight to each airport undertaken by the same aircraft.

You are right. Didn't spot the F and S were the other way round. (I blame my age so it's OK) That explains why there wasn't 2 flights to Tenerife that day. EI-EKX is currently inbound to LBA from day out to Corfu. Will put Leeds approach and tower on the radio shortly and have a listen to the comms. It will most probably fly overhead looking at its current position.

I've had a reply from RA [via an email address that doesn't accept replies]
Now that the courts have confirmed their ruling, I need to decide whether to bother chasing it or just try to get the card company involved ?

    Dear Mr *****,
I acknowledge receipt of your letter received in our office on the 23
    rd
    October 2012.
We sincerely regret the delay to your flight FR2493 from Tenerife South to Leeds Bradford
on the 16/10/12, which was due to adverse weather conditions and airport operational
    issues.

Ryanair is committed to provide on time flights for all passengers and is Europe's No 1 ontime airline.
Occasionally, there are situations outside our control such as adverse weather that disrupt
our flights. We sincerely regret that this flight was one of these rare delayed flights.
As this delay was outside Ryanair's control due to extraordinary circumstances we regret to
advise that no compensation is due under EU261.
Passengers are advised of their rights under Regulation EU261 as follows:-
    - The wording of EU261 is printed on each passenger's online boarding pass.
    - At check-in online all passengers are provided with a direct link to EU261 notice in PDF
    format
    - Passengers confirm receipt of EU261 notice prior to checking- in on line.
    - The notice is available on our website at all times
    - A link to the notice is included in our website flight disruption notices on https://www.ryanair.com
    - A link to the Article 14.2 notice is included in the flight cancellation email sent to affected
    customers
    - In addition the notice is displayed at all Ryanair Bag Drop Desks
    - The notice is also distributed by airport staff in the event of a flight cancellation or delay
    over 3 hours.
We note that refreshment vouchers were issued according to the time of delay.
If you incurred any additional reasonable receipted expenses during the delay, then please
forward copies of these receipts so we may consider them.
I do hope the above has clarified our position on this matter.

This may be better moved to the 'Compensation for Delayed flights' thread if someone could oblige?
