Moorcoft ignoring requests not to phone

When I started on the road of debt management I sent out the template letter requesting that my creditor contact me via letter only. Everything went swimmingly until recently when Moorcoft Debt Recovery started calling me on my mobile or request I up my payements as it'll take 4 years to pay off my debt. I have no idea how they got that number.

Usually I ignore the phone, but that have started calling just before 8am of a morning. Today I answered the call and politely told the lady on the end that they were to contact me via letter only as my per my letter to them back in 2009/10. she told me that that letter didn't cover my mobile and I have to send them the same letter every year. Surely this cannot be right.

Do I continue to ignore the calls or resend the letter?

It does cover your mobile and you don't have to send it every year...stupid woman....

I would send another more strongly worded letter specially to them telling them that you consider their activities harassment and you are now seeking legal advice. Quote what their CSO said and copy it to OFT, making sure to show that you have on the copy sent to Moorcroft.

  • Thank you. I suspect Lloyds who the debt is with orginally have given them my mobile number as I certianly didn't. I haven't even given them my home number.

I have the sinking feeling that they're just not going to listen. The cost of everything is going up at the moment, but my husband's wages aren't. In fact he took a paycut recently to keep his job, yet we tightened our belts so we could continue to pay Moorcoft the same amount thus paying off the debt sooner. The way they're being at the moment I might rebudget and pay them less.

If you contact the OFT and FSA, complaining of their actions, then they will listen.
