But are the numbers that Tesco now have correct (you might think you gave them the correct details, but are these details the same as they now have on their system).

yes, just checked now on tesco credit card online and the figures they have for my DD agreement are correct. it's all very confusing!
  • Sounds like possibly not enough funds in the account the business day before DD.
  • They have probably given you the paperless option on bills, they're good at doing things like that when you don't ask for it, so if you didn't ask for that you need to take that up with them. If you try phoning them be prepared for a very long wait - and then if you have the cheek to ask for complaints be prepared to get cut off. They've done that to me a few times.

I am doing battle with Tesco Bank at the moment about a similar problem. They don't give the correct information, they send a default notice 2 weeks after THEY have forgotten to take the payment, when you make a complaint they can't be bothered to deal with it so you get passed from pillar to post. Tesco Bank has to be one of the worst outfits I have ever had to deal with and as soon as this gets sorted they can stick their credit card where the sun don't shine.

I think I would rather not have the clubcard points than have to deal with that lot.

    Matty,

The process is that Tesco would use a system called AUDDIS to advise your bank that you have given them authority to make DDs from your account, and your bank would acknowledge back to Tesco that request to set up the DD arrangement. At that point the arrangement would show up when you look at your list of DDs on your HSBC online banking. Tesco would only put the message that your payment will be collected by DD once they have had confirmation back from your bank via AUDDIS. And if the DD authority is subsequently canceled by you or your bank, Tesco would also be notified via AUDDIS that it has been canceled.

You're saying that the DD does not show in that list on your HSBC account, so the DD was either cancelled as soon as it was set up, or never set up at all.

I suggest your first port of call is to contact Tesco and ask them to confirm that they had the appropriate acknowledgement from your bank when the DD was set up.
