Company Changed Name

I have posted about my larger issue before but not relevant for my question.
If you make an agreement with a company in this case to buy a wedding dress and pay a deposit, what is the situation with the agreement/contract if they close the original shop and open a new shop under a new name?
To make it clear, the company traded under a holding company whose name was on the deposit receipt but only the shop name was on the agreement, the shop has since closed and renamed but the name on the final payment receipt was the shop name not the holding company.
sorry for being vague im in the middle of SCC process so trying not to give too much away

Think you have lost your deposit. You will need to make a claim against the previous company but would assume they have debts coming out of their ears.
Just out of interest does the new name anywhere say
Shop B - Previously traded as Shop A/Formely Shop A0 -
Not on anything I have seen.
Basically I have a small claim going through for the value of the product due to a fault with it. But after digging in to the details it looks a bit dodgy that we have 3 different company names.
Just trying to get an understandingCurrent Debts

Were the name changes due to the previous shop/holding company ceasing trading?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Was the original company a ltd company ? if so , was it simply a name change ? ie still using the same company reg , or is it a whole new companyVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

Changing the name of a shop makes no difference.
Neither does moving from one address to another.
What is significant is if the business that was trading when you placed the deposit no longer exists.
Especially if it was a limited company.
If it was a limited company that no longer exists, then any action against that company to recover money will almost certainly fail.
If it is a new company trading at the new address, even if the staff or proprietor are the same, then that new company does not automatically take on the responsibilities of the old one.
So we now have four threads on this saga. *sigh*0 -

If the shops aren't ltd you can sue for the money back. Money claim onlline is s lot of help.
Of course if you paid by card just do a charge backDo you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -
You need to investigate the companies and find out which ones are still trading and if the one/two you had the contract with is ltd company or not.
Either look them up on companies house or provide the names and i'm sure someone here willl look them up for you.
But either way, please stop opening new threads. We already asked you to post updates in the original thread rather than opening a new one as it keeps all the relevant info in one place. And tbh, a lot of posters are going to take the viewpoint of "well if you cant be bothered to find and update your original thread, then I can't be bothered to help you".You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
if you look on the original thread you will see that I have asked a few extra questions and received no response. Im trying to get this sorted asap as my fianc! is in pieces over it so I apologise if I have offended anyoneCurrent Debts

I didn't see any unanswered recent questions.
Anyway, if there were, the way to progress that is to ask again, maybe re-phrasing, in the same thread.Im trying to get this sorted asap as my fianc! is in pieces over it so I apologise if I have offended anyone
In my opinion, it just makes it difficult to follow.0
