ICICI delays in opening a Savings Account

Sorry for starting my first posting with a whinge. But has anyone else had problems opening a savings account with the ICICI bank.

All very friendly people for sure, but its two months since i first tried to open an account. They sent me a current account and a credit card. but not what i asked for.

    My account opened fairly smoothly but their computer system has a few wrinkles:

    a) There doesn't seem to be anyway to save to the PC a 9 digit Login ID - how many of those can you remember? It means saving it somewhere.

    b) I requested an online transfer via ICICI's system which didn't happen. If you ask a question via their online email system you are not notified through your normal email account that a reply is waiting for you so you can miss it for a few days.

    c) I eventually put through a transfer which shows the credit appearing on ICICI on 15 June but the corresponding debit is still not showing on Halifax as at this morning. How can that be :confused:

    I must say that I am not overly confident - what have others experienced?

    I found them a bit slow, but got there in the end. However transfers to them seem to take a day longer than normal bank to bank transfers which is quite alarming when transferring large amounts.

  • As far as I'm concerned ICICI are still totally incompetent!
    I managed to open a HiSave account with them last year but closed it very soon thereafter due to problems with money transfers. The closing procedure took them about three weeks and numerous 'phone calls to gee them along.
    I decided, at the beginning of May, to give them another go after reports on here suggested improvements. How wrong I was!!
    My account was opened on the 18 May, 13 days that took? I was advised by e-mail on 4 June that the account was opened, two weeks after the event. This same e-mail advised that I would receive a password within 10 working days. Still no password. 'Phoned this morning and was told that I should receive my password within 10 working days FROM YESTERDAY.
    So I'm afraid that when the password arrives my first priority will be to withdraw my opening £1 deposit and run!
    They tell me I can still deposit funds using the a/c number and sort code I have been given but there's no way I'll do this if I can't access the damn account to see what's happening. How do I know the money's there?
