Hotel for 1 night, 13 Apr 07 - in Durham area

My wife and i unfortunately have to travel back to my home town on 13 Apr 07 to attend a funeral. We are looking to book a minimum 3* Hotel 13 - 14 Apr, somewhere in the Durham and south of Durham area for one night, preferably with dinner, bed and bed and breakfast.

We don't get away much on our own so the more luxourious the better, or of this is not possible then anything will do really!

Anyone know of any deals/sites? We did look at Ramside Hall, although it looks nice it is pricey, unless there is a late deal to be had.

Darlington would be OK, but we are looking for a hotel with grassed lawns etc, somewhere even though we're near to a city it feels like we're in the countryside!! Is there anything like that in Darlington?

Looking to spend up to £150 for DB&B, but would rather pay less!

Don't bust a gut over this, but if you could recommend somewhere that would be nice!

I stayed here a few years ago and it was fabulous, great food.

£115 for 2 isn't too bad, but i think it is too far away.

How about Farnley Tower Hotel 4 Diamond Rating £82 from https://www.laterooms.co.uk for superior double inc Breakfast. Views over Cathedral and Castle. More info https://www.farnley-tower.co.uk
  • Ramside is looking a little jaded at the moment, maybe try Redworth Hall, not sure of prices though. Redworth Hall is south west of Durham.

Redworth Hall! I think that's the one i meant initially! Ramside is more corporate and business.

Will check Farnley Tower, sounds ideal from what you initially posted!

First Post First Anniversary Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver!
Try the Three Old Tuns in Durham itself or The Honest Lawyer just south of Durham. Our son was at Durham Uni and we used both. Both good hotels!

What about the Hallgarth Hotel, its basically just off the motorway (Coatham Munderville). I went onto https://www.uk-bookings.com and the hotel is coming up at £59.95 thats excluding meals, however I beleive breakfasts can be added for about £7.00 and also there is a restaurant on site which do nice meals and are not bad priced so you could just pop into there.
Walworth castle is coming out at £90 (for the cheapest) which included Breakfast and I priced that on the above site.
Redworth Hall is coming out at £84.00 thats excluding breakfasts.

here is the link to hallgarth hotel http://www.foliohotels.com/hallgarth/ but I beleive its more expensive booking with them direct

I will have a think and see if I can come up with anywhere else which is nice.
