Mackenzie Hall...help me plz?

I am new to the forums and any help regarding MH would be appreciated....About 2 weeks ago my son started to receive unknown no. phone calls to his mobile at work (which he never answers) Then last week his Manager informed him that a company called Mackenzie Hall had phoned asking information on my son (they refused due to confidentiality).
We did not know who MH were until my son received a letter this morning regarding a debt from six years ago for £525.(which was nothing to do with MH) Also stating that despite repeated efforts to contact they still have not received a response. Therefore an authorised Meritforce collector will visit our property......(This is the first time my son as had dealings with them)

Firstly I would like to know how MH have been able to obtain my sons mobile no. and his place of work information & tele no. ?
Have MH got the rights to this information?
How does my son or myself on his behalf deal with them?
Does he have to arrange payments with them?

Any help would be appreciated

Is it more than 6 years since you acknowledged the debt in writing or made a payments?

Sounds like that debt could be statute barred. See the info and letters in this link.

sad thing is if you ever put those details on application then anyone can get their hands on it.

Thank you for your help.
After looking through old correspondence my son recalls this debt may have been from at least 7 years ago. But after looking through all his old correspondence I can see that this debt has been passed onto numberous debt recovery agents. I have come across a letter from a recovery company dated 19th July 2007 thanking him for a payment.
Can you advise me what to do next

If it's 6 or 7 years since he last acknowledge in writing or paid the debt, then it would be statute barred.
