travel insurance advice - daughter on her own

Could any travel insurance buffs please help guide me on this...

My 15 year old daughter will be going on holiday with her friend and her family for 2 weeks from mid July. we just have to arrange her travel insurance.(nb, she will be going to Egypt - one week cruise and then one week in a resort).

Mid August we are then going on holiday ourselves as a family to California - so USA policy needed.

my questions are this:

1) Can i arrange a single trip policy for my daughter as a minor?
2) Would i be best to get a worldwide annual family policy and would this then cover her?
3) my eldest daughter (aged 17) has asthma (controlled and last attack 5 years ago). any recommendations for a company for worldwide cover with her pre-existing medical condition.

Thank you in advance for any advice given.

Hi Debs66 - sorry can't answer your specific questions - hopefully someone more knowledgable will !

But I took my daughter's friend on holiday with us last year (both my daughter and friend were 16 at the time). She was covered on the family insurance policy that I had taken out. As she was a minor in my care it was classed as if she was one of my children. I speficically asked the insurance company and got an email to confirm this.
So, would you daughter be covered by the family's insurance ?

thanks for the tip. I can check but she is actually going only with friend and friends single dad. they all went last year and got a cheapie package deal which included insurance. this year he has arranged it differently and says i just need to sort insurance.

he once again won't accept any money for her trip, as he won't get a holiday with his daughter if she doesn't have a friend with her, so it's the least i can do to sort it. i just wasn't sure if she could even have a single trip insurance in her name at age 15.

    thanks again.
