When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning  yay to Thursday!

Things for the day:
* [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]oh to take a bag of food to work and store in his freezer,[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]my colleague coming round after work to take the rest[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]breakfast[/STRIKE] & dinner from stores no need to eat as had such a big lunch! and it didn't cost a penny :T
* [STRIKE]lunch being taken out for a works lunch by boss as the woman I am covering for maternity leave returns on Monday![/STRIKE]
* do gas & elec comparison
* [STRIKE]NSD? Maybe depends on lunch....[/STRIKE]
* do a final pack of everything we are not using for Friday and then moving day and a clean around
* research and print off some stuff for this job application. If I get an interview it will be a week today and I won't have internet over the weekend plus will be in the midst of moving madness!

Ok that is all I can think of.

Stitchy a bit of advice honey if that's ok? I am planning on making a quilt for my best friend's baby/my god child. I need 3/4metre in one design and 1/2 in another - does this mean fat quarters or do I need meter squared?

this is what I'm thinking of doing:

http://www.ludlowquiltandsew.co.uk/Baby_quilt_free_pattern.html

would really appreciate your help! :A

also received cheque for £25 from complaint from savings account :T

dropped painting we bought in Thailand off at the picture framers and the cost is £24 so it is covered by the above shoddy service :rotfl:

  • Good morning everyone, and thanks to DNMS for starting us off.
Re the quilt ~ with some quick maths, you can get 6 x 6.5 inch squares from a fat quarter. From the main fabric you need 16 squares so 3 fat quarters would do it, and you need 9 contrast squares, so 2 fat quarters there. Buy the backing fabric from a roll so there are no joins. I'm sure it will be beautiful and your friend will love it.

    Okay, my list:
    • HM granola for breakfast
    • fed and watered the chickens
    • packed lunches for self & DH
    • checked banking
    • checked for surveys - screened out
    • 42p voucher from Mr T Price Promise
    I will also:
    • get a lift to aand from work
    • charge phone at work as this is allowed
    • keep an eye on surveys
    • knit at lunchtime
    • check out local chemist for bargains - DD and I are making a nappy cake tomorrow :D
    • check sewing room for spare nappies from last nappy cake - I'm sure they're in there somewhere!!!
    • chicken broth & HM bread for dinner

That'll do for today. Last day at work for the week and tomorrow won't come a minute too soon.

    Today
I'm working from home - save petrol :) wonder if I can not drive one mile today?
    HM food all day long
Normal drill - banks and cc's
See if I can juggle money to pay the phone bill installation (£255)
Walk doggies locally inbetween the showers
Put up the pictures at home and do some cleaning (no products to buy :) use what we've got
Try and unpack more bags/move things to suit
Skype son later at uni :)
    Look about for onepoll surveys
Chop more wood (free) and find some from shore maybe but I've a fair bit to chop at the moment so get on with that
HC and hang up inside - put away dry washing and organise putting up airer or fathom where to put it - tried washing in the garage and its too smelly of heating oil.
Text landlady about smelly leaking boiler :(
Aside that watch the birds discover the bird table and write a blog about container gardening and growing grub.
Fill in application for PVG and send it off, send contract back.

Probably me today - have a good un!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

  • Hi everyone,

I love reading this thread every day, and hope to join in soon if that's ok :)

I was just wondering what you mean by eating lunch/dinner etc from stores? Do you simply mean eating what's already in the house and not buying anything extra?

    Thanks!
