Well after nearly 8 years I have almost made it! I have been on a DMP with the CCCS since my LBM (end 2004) and the other day the last payment for them left my account. This will be paid out to my last creditor about the 23rd-ish October. The screen shot from CCCS highlights how much left I owe and the DFD. The £450 has increased from £215 over the years as things have got better for me. I hope the screen shot will help/inspire others as you will be there one day and its a good feeling.
Right, now to tackle the mortgage, which I plan to finish by 2020, five years early.

Many congratulations and good luck with paying off the mortgage!0 -
Likewise, I'm approaching being DF.
I haven't had a DMP, but I have had a large bank loan, for an awful lot of years.
In six moths, it'll finally be paid.
A few months after that (officially 6 but, with the extra money I'll have available, probably 3-4), I'll be completely DF. :cool2:0 -
Congratulations Owen and Bob. We always like to hear about people getting their debts cleared. :jThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Been here for a long time and don't often post0 -
After all these years, it's now so close, I can almost taste it.
Can hardly wait for that last DD to go out in March. :cool:0 -
I agree Bob, you can almost taste it. For me once the DMP settled down after a couple of months the next 5 years of it seemed to fly by. The last year has dragged a bit but now i am almost there, well in fact I suppose I am as I have made the last payment to CCCS. I've already opened a ISA (what me savnig???????) to put the DMP money in as I will just end up wasting it. And what am I saving for? A family holiday abroad, first since 2003! Kids are almost grown up now and I've got some making up to do on the holiday front. Its going to be a good one. I cant wait to take my 18 year old daughter and her friend to the local disco and show 'em dads still got the killer moves on the dance floorOne man's folly is another man's wife. Congratulations.
My dmp finishes early next year and I can't ruddy wait! 2008 I started and I'm so desperate for it to finish that I'm almost obsessed with checking my CCCS online statement to admire my DFD and wishing for that time to come.
I want it to finish as I'm unhappy in my job but it pays well so I'm only sticking it out at the moment so I can be debt free. I will then have the freedom to work part time locally as I will be over £600 pm better off, so will be able to afford to take a drop in salary and have a bit of a life for a change before I hit 50.
I'll be mortgage free in 18 months too...bring it on!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014
