Can someone please tell me who Nationwide use when deciding whether to approve mortgage applications.

I have checked on experian and all is ok.

I have just checked on Equifax - and what a mess (two people as alias's that I have never heard of and 2 addressess, I have never lived at, 1 financial connection a man i have never heard of and not showing as on electoral roll, although i have checked with Council and I am definately on there)

I have notified Equifax - but i am not sure how long they take to sort it out. I have the same first and last name as one of the people mentioned, but a different middle name and a different date of birth and coincidently we did live at the same address (not at the same time though and we never met)

Oh god - why oh why did my parents give me a god damn common name

As for call credit - tried to check the online report they hold and apparantly its unavailable - postal application only.

I am seriously panicing now, my mortgage will be declined on a load of false information.

Be aware lenders can and do use specialised systems over and above the 2 agencies you mention, so I suspect all this will come out anyway.

Just doing a case like yours right now. The client had to proove these other entries are nothing to do with her. Not easy. It meant using a small Building Society as they employ real Humans that are experienced in the ways of the world.

A faceless entity like Nationwide probably won't work out well. Last thing you need is a 'computer says no' style organisation!

They largely rely upon Experian, although depends on the case scoring they do have access to other reports as Conrad said.

They are slow at the moment though, so no news is not necessarily bad news.

  • I suspected as much - i have applied to have then removed. I am hoping whoever does the checks will have the brains to see the middle names and dates of birth are different.

I think I had better prepare for the inevitable rejection and start looking for a broker :(
