Another HPC stalwart bites the dust!

This one's been ranting about House prices for nearly as long as the sites been there. I wonder how much money she'd have saved if she'd bought in 2004?
Admitedly I've offered 11% under the asking price and they want to do a 28 day exchange rather than a 14 day exchange.

In typical HPC form, the moderators have been quick to move this posting from the main Forum. They don't want people thinking now might be a good time to buy a Home.:rotfl:

I would have posted a congratulations message, but I've been banned from the site four or five times!:D

I'm sorry. I'm only teasing, honest.

So the house was on the market for 3 weeks, and the price had already been reduced by 13.5%, before the vendor decided to accept an offer which was another 11% below that making a total of 23% down. The price is also 18% below the recent selling price of other similar houses on the street, and 52% less than a house with one more bedroom changed hands for at peak.

I suppose you couldn't post 13,000 on HPC and then buy a house whilst retaining your "HPC credibility" without claiming something like that.

No harm in buying the right house at the right price.

That is the problem for most people.

whatever are you suggesting? i've got an offer in on a house in the country at the moment, been completely renovated already but they're having difficulty shifting it so i've come in at 20% below the asking price - all the signs are that they're going to accept, and that's before i've had the survey done. Got to be good for another few thousand off after that.

    easy isn't it? ;)

Personally when I buy I'm going to go in by offering 110% below the asking price; you can never start too low.
  • well exactly - i normally start by getting the vendors to wash my car

    Brilliant move.

Then you ask for another 10% after the survey when it reveals that the doorbell doesn't work, one roof tile is slightly chipped, and the smoke alarm needs a new battery.
