ammending Holiday - appalling increase for child

My MIL wants to ammend a holiday booking, change an adult name and add a child (2.5years), even though there are free child places still available the holiday company wants to charge £350. The room is currently under occupied.
The change is due to illness and bereavement, the illness was an existing condition of a partner that has become prolonged (MRSA), the bereavement was also exected due to Cancer, so no insurance cover to cancel and rebook the whole thing.
I have contacted the hotel directly but have had no reply, the flight only is £130 with the same company and the transfer can be done by bus.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Linda

I think they should be much more helpful considering the circumstances, you need to speak with someone who can alter the ammendment price down to a lower level. We'd all like to hear of a company being more reasonable in these kind of circumstances.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
