grow bags or ground?

My DH has spent all weekend constructing me a greenhouse. My plan was to have a row of flags down the middle and plant into the ground either side.Today my dad came round and said no you don't want to do that you need to flag the whole thing and buy grow bags.
Now in true moneysaving style I am thinking why buy grow bags when I have got perfectly good soil already there!I know that next year I would have to treat the soil etc but then I intend flagging the whole lot!
Can anyone give any advice because now I don't know what to do.

Could not give you advice as I know nothing about it.

We were also told we got very good soil in our garden, but we still bought 15 pounds worth of grow bag compost and farm manure to put in our raised bed. Bought grow bags because they were cheaper than multi purpose compost.

Have no idea whether what we did was right or wrong!

    Hi
I Think Your Dad Has A Point You'll Have To Stererlise The Soil
    Each Year
Why Not Do A Comprmise Have Your Slabs Down The Middle And Grow
Bags Down Each Side Then Use Them At The End Ofthe Season As Compost For The Garden Areas

    Good Luck

i have slabs down the middle and soil down the sides. i just take out the top half spit every autumn and dig in fresh compost off the heap and rotted manure.

Grow bags are so blimmin cheap now that I can't see the point of doing all that work prepping soil etc. Like Dukie I reuse them as garden compost at the end of the season. In fact, I used them instead of compost for annuals last year and TBH I could not see any difference in the performance of the plants.

I would agree with your Dad. But, depending on what you are growing, I would use Multipurpose compost and large pots, espapially if you are doing tomatoes, peppers etc. That way they get deeper roots and are easier to stake and water.
