Am I being paranoid? Probably...

OK, so the sale of our house has been dragging on for weeks now with my buyer/his solicitor constantly promising to exchange/complete and then coming up with another reason to delay:mad:. Without going into the details (all very minor things that just haven't been done timeously, all on their part not mine) i'm starting to get paranoid now that they've changed their minds but don't have the bottle to say so, so are trying to drive me to the point of saying enough is enough and withdrawing my property!
See - this is what selling your house does to you!! Turned me into a paranoid conspiracy theorist:eek:!!! We've so far set so many exchange completion dates i've lost count!!!!!!!!
If the market was bouyant I probably would have withdrawn by now but in these times they seem to have you but the short and curlies!! Sooooooooo tired of it all, its emotionally exhausting. As far as i'm aware if he withdrew his offer as we haven't exchanged there would be diddley squat i could do about it anyway so I don't understand why he doesn't just pull the plug if he wants to.
So is the general consensus I finally lost my mind?

Can you speak to your buyer direct , I find it ten times better to try and speak to them direct
They may have a rubbish solicitor who wants to dot i's and cross t's, it maybe information hasnt come back from the relevant authorities, it may be the buyers mortgage is delayed, but whatever the reason you cannot guess you need to speak to them
BTW thats why they say buying and/or selling a house is one of the most stressful things in the world!!0 -
They won't have changed their mind. If they had, nobody would be returning phonecalls, everything would have gone silent and you'd be sat there wondering what was going on.
Either they've genuinely got a crap solicitor (there's a lot of them about!) or they're working up to gazunder. That seems to be what gazunderers do - they string you along until you'd do anything just to exchange, then drop their offer. Sorry if that's just given you one more thing to worry about - I hesitated to write this reply for that reason - but it happened in our chain and I think we all could have dealt with it better if it hadn't been such a bolt from the blue!
But I agree about trying to speak to them direct.0 -

Nah, you've not lost your mind - or if you have it'll come back once all this is over!0

I thought the same. For the last 2 weeks we were supposed to exchange, but excuses and small bits kept cropping up. We exchanged today so try not to worry as it will send you mad thinking of why it's being delayed.0

To all my fellow suffers out there!!!!!!!!!! We have actually managed to exchange today:eek:!:T:T
I'm quite in a state of shock:eek: and feeling a bit stunned!
Now just keeping our fingers crossed for successful completion as not quite out of the woods yet but almost there.
Good luck to all you others who were in the same predicament as me, you all made me feel better and that I wasn't going as completley mad as I thought i was!:rotfl:
(I however think it may be a while until i can be trusted with sharp implements:rotfl:)0 -
