Yay and that is the lightbulb moment right there, it will be tough to start with and you may need to re jig the figures along the way, but well done on taking charge. :)

  • Well done for doing this. In university I let my studies slip because my flatmates were a*ses, they refused to get up and work so I worked 3 jobs and tried to study too...I came out with £10k of debt from looking after them for 5 years. Please don't let yourself get to my situation, I'm 33 and still paying it off.

I'm looking at what we have to sell - old mobiles, books, cd's, software etc to start with then a total clear out of wardrobes, cupboards and a car boot is in order

Try and sell as much as you can on ebay and/or Amazon before doing a car boot. People, myself included, always want something for nothing at a car boot :o

We try 3 free listings on ebay then it goes in the car boot pile. Remember that Amazon listings are always free with a standard, i.e., non-promerchant account so you can afford to leave it there longer.

Well done on a true LBM, it's shining brightly now :T

I've found a job I can work from home around my current commitments without really impacting at all on my hours which works out at a minimum of £150 per month - so more into the coffers to get the CC's down first of all.

I've also earnt the princely sum of £1.57 so far today doing surveys, will do some more later today plus some Swagbucks as well... We all sat down as a family last night at dinner and threw out ideas on how to cut our spends. Had some good, bad and downright silly ones thrown out but at least it got everyone thinking about it.

I found an extra £60 in my business bank account (I trade under my own name) so that is winging its merry way to my main bill account to bring the OD down and theres another 50£ odd quid in recurring commissions (monthly) that I need to start moving from Paypal into my bank account.

This is not going to take me 42 months to clear it - I've got the bit between my teeth now :D

I've been working on cutting my monthly expenses today, sitting on the fone and driving a hard bargain with companies to get better deals and cut what we use to the bone.

so far ive cut our monthly expenses by 84 quid per month, that will come down by a further 15 per month from next month and another 22 from November....

just goes to show what can be done when you really want to cut spend and get things sorted. it has also helped greatly to keep a proper spending diary so i could actually see what was comin in/ going out.

thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone!
