Living In Egypt- TIPS PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Hi

I am planning on moving to Egypt for the short term....at least. I have been in touch with students ( i am a pt student) who are saying i can have a flat share for £200-400 a month. But this ties you in and commits one to a long term thing. I heard from someone that hotels are relatively cheap, that if you get there you can book a hotel from anywhere from £2 a night onwards (awful ones cost £2).....is that true? Obviously i like my creature comforts so if a nice ish place (no creepy crawlies) and safe hotel were to cost £15 a night that would be good. Often travel agents make most of the profit from these hotels and the hotels own rates are quite cheap. Anyone had any experience or seen cheap hotel prices whilst they were out there.

Im looking for culture so i am thinking i would like to stay in Cairo.
Do i need any other tips for when im out there? Nice places to see, what to avoid, cost of food etc. ANy help would be very much appreciated. I plan to travel in a few weeks time. I was also looking at air tickets there and found it is approximately £300 return. But on the same note ive found last minute deals that include a top notch hotel for a week on band b to be that price or less! So what i may do is ask the travel agent to book me in for that deal but make sure my return flight is at some later date. Would that work do you think?

Also i need something thats good for the soul....so any charity organisations out there that need help.....please let me know of them, so that i can contribute in a positive way to life!

Many thanks!

Are you considering other places, or is there a special reason for Egypt?
