Hi,
My 69yr old mom had an electrical fault in her car whilst out with another elderly widow, she contacted Start Rescue as her electric windows would not close.. she was concerned at what else would not work as she started her long journey home. She was told by the rescue company that as it wasn't raining she could drive home with the windows down.. when she expressed concern she was told they would charge her £90 to come out and £360 to get her home if they couldn't repair the problem.. when I found out I contacted the company and they say they have nothing to apologise for and no refunds are available because its been longer than 14 days since she renewed the policy.
Any suggestions for the best way to handle this? All I want is a refund of money paid by my Mom and an apology. The attitude of Customer Services is dead pan, no refund and what have we got to apologise for. They will send it to the complaints department, but I'm not allowed to speak to them.
Any suggestions?

What cover has she got with Start Rescue and have you read the policy?
Normally if your vehicle suffers a BREAKDOWN due to an accident, mechanical or electrical fault then they will recover your vehicle.
I very much doubt that a failed window motor would mean the vehicle could not be driven or that the rest of the vehicle will be unsafe.
Fault was probably a fuse for the electric window, rely or window motor.
I would read the policy first before complaining."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
Thanks Foxy-Stout, she has the 5* cover. We were told that electrical faults were covered when we took out the policy. The windows were the first fault, but on the way home additional electrical items started to play-up ie oil gauge, rev counter etc...
Even if not covered is correct, surely they have a moral duty to make sure two elderly ladies are safe? We have since taken cover elsewhere and when asked were laughed at and told that's what you get from Start Rescue.. Im realy cross with their attitude and the rudeness let alone leaving two elderly women unattended a long way from home and very concerned... I need some advice as to make my point in the most effective way inflicting as much inconvenience and bad publicity as is possible.0
