I think you ought to find a hobby where the other participants are hunky young men just to even the score! Do a tree surgery course or something.

Do you like dogs? The local dogs home would probably be every grateful for an extra walker.

What about joining a walking group (Ramblers or something like it)? I belong to one and its not all bobble hats and anoraks :rotfl:Mine does mid week evening walks and Sunday longer walks that get me out of the house for most of the day and you can go at your own pace.

Have a look at Meetup groups in your area www.meetup.com or at Spice www.spiceuk.com - I'm sure that there might be something that grabs you.
I've done both of these and they really revived my social life after a divorce. Good luck.

I know the feeling, i'm a golf widow!!! Always feel that i'm the sadsack with nothing to do with myself. I'm looking into a few options for myself which might be activties you would like?:

    1. Charity work, i like the idea of mentoring young people, but might start off with a few single days here and there for different charities to see if i'm up for a longer term commitment.
    2. Painting class
    3. Reading group
    4. Yoga/pilates (i've actually got a pilates dvd and it's great for destressing!) It's also very good for back complaints - assuming your doctor doesn't feel your particular problem wouldn't be agrivated by it.
    5. Cooking classes/bread making etc

If have the time on your hands, make the most of it and try different things out before deciding. You might be suprised at what you like. I can also vouch for poker. It great fun, a lot of tatics and 'reading' people - plus, some men just assume you don't really know what you are doing so it's areal pleasure to take their chips :rotfl::rotfl:
