Good Campsites in Derbyshire

I'm trying to find a decent campsite in the Derbyshire area. If possible one without indoor complex swimming pools, cafe's etc. We like them to be as quiet as possible with toilets, showers etc. but near to local attractions. If anyone has any recommendations I would be grateful as there are so many to choose from I get baffled!!!! Thanks.

Longnor Wood, Buxton is fantastic, Adults Only, lovely and quiet. If you go to http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/ and search for it you should be able to access their website. Happy Camping. Maureen

I would throughly back Maureen recomendation of
    https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk
It was my main addiction before I discovered this site!

We have booked to go to a site in Derbyshire for the May half term holiday with our family ( 3 kids ) and some other families. It doesnt have facilities such as pool etc but TBH I dont think you get those on a quiet site.

We are staying at rivendale in Derbyshire which isnt too far away from Alton Towers.

That sounds like a good one - don't like them with the pools and that anyway, have you any idea of the costing there?

I can strongly recommend Cottage Farm at Blackwell in the Peak (near Taddington, about six miles south of Buxton, just off the A6): 01298 85330. Been there several times, blissfully peaceful place for Proper Campers. Easy access to the Monsal trail for some idyllic walking too.

What's it like for things to do with children near by. Are there toilets, shower facilities on the site?

Yes, there are showers and toilet blocks. I'd say the best thing of all for children is that there's loads of space to run around in (all in view of wherever you pitch your tent/caravan). Great for kite flying, sheep in the neighbouring field to keep the kids entertained, and a good location for reaching all parts of the Peak District.
