Me and my ex partner split in may this year and moved out of our private rent house. Recently I have found out the landlord wanted to keep the bond (which was mine) but I found out she didn't register it so I am taking her to small claims court to sue her. My question is : who's name will the bond be returned in? Mine or my partners or both? He joint account in which the rent. me out of is now shut down but he used to pay the rent. I uses my own money to pay the bond and don want my ex to think he has some right to it advice needed ASAP thanks
Who was the tenant? or was it both of you (joint)? The deposit and any compo should of course go to the tenant(s). If you were just an 'authorised adult occupier' then I imagine you'll get nowt. The compo for non-protection of deposit is now between 1x - 3x the deposit paid.
