'cos I ain't getting a lot here, comments like "I thought it was men who were supposed to make a fuss when they were ill" have been heard ...
And I'm not making a fuss, as such, but it's fairly obvious I'm not well! Which I can't help!
And "it's probably just a virus" and "there's a lot of it about" are the considered medical response. With a prescription for antibiotics if I don't start improving soon, and the promise that I can ring on Monday for a sick note if I'm not fit for work. Which I hope I will be because some bits are improving today, although other bits aren't.
Anyway, wanting to do a steam inhalation and can't find any menthol crystals or karvol - any suggestions for what I can use tonight? Or will plain water help? Hate the smell of them anyway, so anything nicer happily considered. Not well equipped with essential oils or smelly things like that, but I do have lemons and vinegar ... :rotfl:
In hope that I won't get locked ...

Thanks snails's pace, I'm already coughing nicely but it's not 'productive'.
And rejoice with me! I have found some old Karvol ... hope it's still smelly. Also found some clove oil I was prepared to experiment with ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Sorry you're not well Savvy!
Just steam will do a good job. It still opens up the passages.
A bit of Vick vapour rub in there would give you that menthol hit if you have any of that in the house. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Hope you get well soon and get more sympathy & willing slaves to do your bidding while you're feeling grotty:grouphug:"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
Aw hugs from me S_S I have some menthol crystals here if you were a bit nearer (or I hadn't already driven up from the deep south today) I could have dropped them off. Hope you feel better soon.0

Thank you all. The gutting thing is that it's not bad enough to need antibiotics, yet I still feel so ghastly.
I guess the other gutting thing is thinking that one of my flipping colleagues has passed this on to me by crawling in when she wasn't fit! There's only one indispensible person in our office, and that's ME! :rotfl:
As I said I did find some old Karvol and it's done something: left nostril was blocked but is now dripping, right one currently blocked ... :rotfl:
Off to bed with my wheat bags soon ...
Oh, the willing slave situation: DS1 is home from Uni so anything I want done in the afternoon is OK. Mornings are out for both of us ... DS2 is also willing. DS3 is supposed to have half a dozen of his mates round on Saturday to celebrate his birthday, so he's in full mutter mode because I'm asking him to help tidy the place up a bit! DH is working, of course. He wasn't well on Sunday, he says he wasn't well on Saturday either and I didn't notice, but he wasn't as ill as me! T'other chap keeps moving away from me, and wants to know what the smell is (it's the Karvol!)
At least I don't have to worry about the school run any more ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
the sympathy that is!
DH had to be up early so I was supposed to be having a lie in. But I was slightly disturbed by him bringing me tea, and I then had the most weird and disturbing dream involving my DS3 giving me a kiss (that hasn't happened for a while!) but being late for school because he was hunting out Goth gear (it's a non-uniform day today) in my wardrobe. Even more disturbingly, he seemed to find some ...
The dream was shattered when the phone went: a colleague who works part-time and didn't know I was NOT coming in all week wanted to check I knew the details for meeting up later today, because we were meant to be going 'on retreat' together. It was only 8.15 am ... So bleary I failed to hope they have a good time, which I do.
Dozed off again, and then they started digging up the pavement outside my bedroom window (new gas main).
So I've been up, had a cuppa, swallowed my vits and Ibuprofen - at least I think I took some ibuprofen, maybe I just got the tub out, I'll have to go and find some paracetamol in a mo - and just wondering if the noise has subsided enough to make it worth trying to sleep again. Or if the nausea will keep me awake as much as the noise.
I have felt iller than this, but not for a long time ... And I am counting my blessings, at least as I said before I don't have to worry about the school run, and they can fend for themselves food-wise.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
