Urgent Advice/Help Please

Hi,i really need some help please.
Computer went mad messsages popping up all over from startup defender then when tried to reboot got quick message from svchost with other parts I clicked yes thinking this would let me restart but no, has took me an hour just to get to this point.

Wouldnt open in anything then finally came back but i cannot open any software or browser(firefox opened on its own while i tried to uninstall some software.A Windows File Assocition ,window opened) i get this message
"This file does not have aprogram associated with it for performing this action.Create an association in the Folder Options control panel"
everytime i try and open/uninstall any software or program or browser.

Ive tried System restore XP which im running but get same message,
did not want to try safe mode in case i cannot get back to this point before taking advice.
Please help thank you

Nearly solved it myself,think it was a virus still checking

If you're still having prolems, download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:

• Double click DDS to run it.
• When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:

1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop.

Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)

I have a Sky+ box which I use occasionally to pause live television but this morning a message flashes up on screen - "Recording selection failed". A telephone number is given but this has not happened to me before. Any ideas ?
