Hi all, this is a thread to discuss the MSE blog:

The danger of eBay festival ticket buying

"...when I stumbled across a couple of misspelt "V Festical" tickets on BayCrazy, I couldn’t resist bidding on what I thought was an absolute bargain..."

Festical is an ironic portmanteau in this instance. Poor lamb, i think I might have easily fallen for this.

It can be done relatively safely if you know that the tickets are out there, what they look like and do it within the 45 days allowed by Paypal & Ebay.

It's not always the case though. I bought my Madonna tickets on eBay on the morning of the concert.

Checking feedback/how new the ebay profile is is a good idea though, there were a lot of newly created ebay profiles selling the same tickets, I bought from a seller with 200+ recent positive feedback.

I got front-row seats for Meatloaf at Wembley Arena on ebay, from someone who couldn't go, and refused to profit from re-selling, so I paid face value.

If I were to ever buy tickets on ebay I would make sure it was within 45 days of the gig, and the buyer had received the tickets (with a picture).

I sold a spare ticket to a Blink 182 gig and followed these rules in listing it myself. Then the gig got cancelled, I obviously refunded the buyer once I received my refund from Seetickets (a couple of days), but the buyer had trouble with another seller not refunding them. So when buying tickets be aware that gigs gets cancelled, so ask your seller what would happen if it got cancelled. They're suppose to refund your ticket is what I reckon and I'm sure ebay will agree.
