Hi
I don't drive and I'm used to commuting via trains. I'm looking for good holiday locations, my idea is of the seaside but I don't mind, that has a close (walking distance) train station.
It's just me and bubba (14 months) so has to entertain me and him. I like castles, museums, etc and he needs a play centre or similiar. We're really not fussed though I'd like to go somewhere that HAS something e.g. Brighton has pier, as a key attraction. I was going to book a b&b/hotel and just book train tickets.
We are travelling from Coventry (West Midlands) train station so tickets ought to be up to £70 but hopefully a lot less! It's just adult return as he goes free
My budget for the hotel would be around £250 max for four nights plus, then around £200 for spending.
It would be good to have a nearby Tesco for nappies, etc but would welcome any ideas please!

You can't go wrong with Brighton unless you want a sandy beach. If you do need this, I'd suggest Bournemouth.0

berwicks fantastic for beaches and got plenty of historical buildings.
theres a haven caravan park 2 minutes walk from train station, and it has all the usual free stuff, shows, pools, tennis etc and its got its own private beach.
5 minute walk from town centre with large supermarket that delivers to the site free0 -
Southport is lovely, it has a good beach, parks and attractions. it takes about 4 hours from Coventry. I did a quick search for 4 nights from tomorrow and found Trainline tickets for £21 and guesthouse accomodation for £120, so you could well afford to go a bit more upmarket or stay longer, or spend a bit more on going out or shopping.
