Win a pair of tickets to one of three comedy shows:
Laurence Clark’s ‘Inspired’ – 31 August 2012
An internationally acclaimed comedian, performer, writer and actor, Laurence Clark will be questioning what it means to be inspirational. Inspired is funny, thought provoking and uses humour to encourage audiences to re-examine the stereotypical way in which people talk about and view the Paralympic Games.
Why do some ordinary activities suddenly become considered inspirational when a disabled person does them?
Kiruna Stamell and Gareth Berliner ‘A Little Commitment’ – 30 August 2012
Two disabled artists, one theatrically trained and one trained through stand-up, meet and develop a relationship that works. But the world cannot understand how they can be happy. The show is a warm and funny take on relationship, with Kiruna and Gareth exploring their changing future together and their shifting identities.
Always under scrutiny from the prejudice of the outside world, A Little Commitment exposes, through humour, the hidden discrimination facing the disabled community in matters of love and gives hope to the best and disfigured in an age of body fascism, where myths and Hollywood lead us to believe love is only for the traditionally beautiful.
David Roche ‘Catholic Erotica’ – 1 September 2012
Facial disfigurement had a relatively benign effect of David Roche’s sexual development – at least compared to being raised Catholic. Catholic Erotica is a humorous journey through the dark forest of rules and repression into the sunlight of enjoyment of life.
Catholic Erotica is both edgy and warm. By the end of Catholic Erotica, you will know that the show’s title is not a contradiction in terms, and maybe you will be proud of your shame.
