Best Supermarket to buy school Uniforms

Ok so I've always bought my Stepsons school uniforms from Sainsbury's but was wondering where others got theirs and whose were the best quality i.e. stood up to playground football etc!

Can't answer for playground football but I did buy a Sainsbury's school uniform cardi for myself! :o It was just such a nice colour and shape and, tbh, it's not like anyone's noticed it's a child's cardi. At least... no one has said to my face. ;) So, from my POV, the Sainsbury's stuff washes and wears well. lol

I have in the past bought DD's school trousers from both Asda and M and S. The M and S ones have the best fit and look better on, but are nowhere nearly as hardwearing as the Asda ones which seem indestructible! She got two years wear out of her Asda trousers and could have gone on for another year, except the trouser hems were almost up to her calves by that point :). The M and S ones wore through at the bum by the last half term of the first school year she wore them. To be fair, she loves to trampoline at school so is probably quite hard on her trousers.
  • last year I bought my dd a mix of TU and Next cardis, and of the 2 the TU ones washed and looked better come end of term. I did buy her some trousers one winter but was really unimpressed with the quality, soooo thin and cheap looking. This year I've gone to matalan for all her stuff as she likes the cross back pinafores they do.

My son starts in sept and he's such a dinky thing that I had to go to Next for his trousers as they're the only brand I know that fit him waist and leg wise, they look fab quality so am hoping they last lol-best part about that was my brother works at Next so got me them with discount The rest of his uniform, jumpers and tshirts I bought from sainsburys as their polo necks are great quality, wash and wear well, plus i know from dd's cardis the jumpers should be good.

I found that my DD's school clothes, regardless of where I buy them last far longer than my son's ever did. She's about to go into yr 5 and still fitting in skirts and polo shirts bought for the beg of yr 3. Likewise pinafores bought for Reception lasted till mid-way thru yr 2, when I changed her into gingham dresses for the summer.

My son though, I never found any brand he didn't put thru the shin. That only stopped towards the end of yr 6 and into yr 7, by which time he was wearing next/BHS trousers as they suited his body shape better, and i don't think it was the make of clothes that made them last, rather that he'd grown out of sliding round the floor in the mud playing footie.

I have found for trousers M&S is best for my boys, better fit, adjustable waist and hard wearing.

Polo shirts I have bought from Tesco the last few years and they have been fine.

Our sweatshirts have to come from the school so cant help on that.

I'm another for M&S. I washed DD's school dresses from last term this morning and despite being worn all year, they will do her the next. The school knitwear is better quality as well.

I have found that the Sainsburys gingham summer dresses are always very tight in the shoulders for my DD. This year I bought a 10-11 dress (she's just turn 8!) and it was still too tight!

I ended up buying Asda dresses instead and think I will stick to them in future...

As much as I like M&S, I've never bought a pair of trousers from there, either for the kids or me, that the hems didn't come down on. MIL says she gets the same problem too. A couple of washes and I've got to get the wonderweb out and re-hem them. Very annoying. Ginham dresses are okay though, and the royal blue cardi's I buy to go with are nice quality also.

Wherever I buy trousers from, supermarket wise, they have to have adjustable waists for my slim children, which aren't very comfortable. I'm going to try Next's slim fit trousers for DD (9) this year, and for DS I buy the trousers in the local school shop, which are about £8-£9 per pair, but well worth it because they fit on the waist without adjusting buttons, and last until they are half mast on him, and he puts them through some wear and tear, believe me!

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

I get my eldest son's Secondary school shirts and trousers from Asda as they seem to last the longest - i.e. stay black, don't wear through and the fit is great.

School shoes are usually from Tesco, football boots/trainers from Sports Direct.

Sadly the rest of his uniform has to be bought from a specialist due to badges/colour and cost a fortune...and as my youngest starts Y7 in September, I'm already buying bits and bobs to spread the cost!
