last minute holiday

can anyone tell me where they think is the best place to look for a last minute break in the sun. we have a week to ourselves - no kids - for a whole week from sunday and although we have very little money i just cant resist looking for some sunshine - dont care where in the world we go! any ideas its been a rough start to the year!!! thanks

I would definitely recommend https://www.medhotels.com for excellent value accommodation in most European resort areas.

Wherever you go you should find good value flights with a low-cost airline to get you there (assuming you're looking at next week which isn't school holidays).

https://www.skyscanner.net and https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/flightchecker are helpful search engines to start you off looking for flights (although the MSE one doesn't cover too many airlines -- yet!), and https://www.whichbudget.com is useful for listing which airlines fly from where to where.

PS I see you're in Derbyshire. We're in Leics. Just don't expect to find many cheap flights from East Mids these days! Fortunatle there's plenty of other airports within easy enough reach!

There are some excellent offers to Egypt around with Hayes and Jarvis if I remeber right 299 4 and 5 star hotels with flights PM me if your interested and I will dig them out

Know how you feel saw your thread and could not help think that you are not alone with the rough start to the year! May I wish you all the best in your search. We've been thinking exactly the way you have. We were looking at flying to Venice from Luton (as we live 10 minutes walk away!!!!!) for a few days around 15th to the 19th - just to get away for my birthday - we've left it too late to get flights for the both of us for £54 including taxes for a return!!! But its still around £78 for two returns going out saturday and comming back late on Tuesday! So not bad. Don't know much about the weather I looked on one site and they said its about 60 degrees out there! If you go on to the Ryan air site and click on hostels they also give details of camp sites with cabins for approx £10 per person per night for a cabin with twin beds and ensuite on a site with a swimming pool and connections to airport with 24 hour check-in.

I am kicking myself that I didnt book my flights before friday when it was approx £112 for two of us for 3 nights and return flights!!! Not bad if you are prepared to stay at a campsite.

hi all - thanks so much for replying to me. we decided to stay home in the end and get some work done to the house....oh boy do i need a holiday now though!!! but thanks anyway at least there are people out there willi ng to help and advise...i dont go anywhere else for advice anymore!
