Porch roof damaged letting in water, rotten wood

Hi,

We have a porch roof (just a roof that juts out from the building, not an enclosed porch).

It has a lead roof and the lead has split in the middle of the roof allowing water to get in, which has rotted the wood underneath.

What is the bests and cheapest way to fix this pls and also to check whether the porch is still structurally sound?

We know lead is very expensive so are wondering if we could in some way fill the hole or leave the lead covering as it is and cover over the entire roof with something else to make it water tight?

It is only a small area, about a metre long by half a metre wide.

The wood underneath is rotting and is bulging out underneath.

Huge thx for any advice on this.

Just a quick "bump" for my original post, in the hope that someone can advise. Have had two builders around to estimate so far. One has suggested putting marine wood on the top of the porch (in place of the lead) and covering with hot bitumen (?), and then lining the bottom part with plywood and painting over.

Another has suggested filling the hole with some sealant type stuff and overpainting. Then just replacing the wood underneath and painting.

Any comments on the above or other suggestions most welcome before we try to reach a decision....

    Many thx!

if it needs completly replacing this may be the cheapest option:-

to find out haw bad the rot is you will have to open up the roof structure and have a poke around, if its only the plywood (or other type of board) then strip it off, replace with 12 or 18mm wbp ply and cover with felt / lead or other material. The only other option is a repair using either lead sheet dressed of the split or a bodge repair with mastic / flashband
