Carers Allowance, Self Employed and Family Members Benefits.

Right so here goes this is abit of a complicated one.

First off I am 22 years old and I am a carer for my Grandfather who is 77. Now I live in the same house as him and I am with him all day every day. So I easily fulfil the 35 hours required to claim CA. Now, there are times during the day when I don't need to be right beside him.

My grandfather isn't going to be around forever (hopefully he will though)So, I have been saving money from my CA and IS to start a business. It will be run from home so I will still actually be with him anyway I just want to know where I stand regarding my CA. I will obviously loose my IS but at first I won't be earning anything so how does this affect CA. I know they take an average of your earnings but I won't have anything to show them as it will be a new business.

Also, I live in my mothers house. She claims DLA, ESA, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. Would me becoming self employed and earning money affect the benefits she claims. I would be happy to support her and pay my way once I was making money.

Hope some of you guys can help.

Thank You
Robbie :)
