HI angie
I would n't take too much cash. Do you have a Nationwide Flexaccount? If not, get one. Put enough money in there and take it out as and when you need it. No commission, better exchange rate. I wouldm't be without mineI haven't got one!0 -
suggest go to a supermarket when you arrive and stock up on cereal / milk / bread and ice cream etc - won't be tempted to head out for breakfast then!!:j0

am going to see if i can get a Nationwide Flexaccount open and sorted before i go.
I dont think we will eat out for breakfast and will def do a shop when we get there.
has anyone been to Torrevieja?? any ideas on what to do when there? Have looked at the waterpark but it wont be open when we go.
Thanks Again0 -
I've got a place in Torrevieja but don't have a child so forgive me if some of the suggestions are not particularly practical for you!
There's the beaches of course - lovely ones but not much there other than sand at that time of year! The sea is also still very cold but there is an indoor pool near the water park (open 8-1 & 5-10) but remember you have to have a swimming cap and flip-flops
There are a few small parks dotted around - the largest is The Park of Nations and this has a boating lake where the boats are swan shaped and there are dragons attached to the slides
There's also Rio Safari Elche. Its a full day out 18E for Adults and 15E for children, under 3 are free, this includes a ride on the Safari train, Parrot show, Elephant exhibition and Sea-lions exhibition. You can also ride Ponies and Camels and Go Carts (these 3 cost extra). Theres also a swimming pool with slide and places to eat. Loads of other animals to see. To get there drive towards Santa Pola, take the slip road to Elche and its signposted from the roundabout - if you're not driving I assume you can get a bus from the bus station in town
There's a pitch and putt close to the harbour and you can go for a walk around the salt lakes and see the pink flamingos. You can also walk on the rocks towards La Mata and check out the rock pools or maybe do some fishing and there is a boat trip that runs daily
Sorry can't think of anything else unless you're over at Easter when there are a number of parades in town.0 -
Been to Torrevieja half a dozen times. Its a really lovely place. Food isn't too badly priced on the sea front restaurants (and they do plenty of chips for kids).
Not sure at this time of year as we usually go much later on but there is a street market on a Friday evening which is great - but beware of the amusment arcade behind it..... it'll cost you a fortune.
Trip out to Terra Mitica is great. Loads for kids (ours were 6, 7 and 8 when we first took them). We also liked the new park next door Terra Natura. More animals and water park than theme park. Neither of them are particularly cheap but great for a full day out.
Money - we would stay in my family's villa and stay for 2 weeks in June/July and I only ever took £800 and that was for all food and petrol. I usually come back with something left as well.
Hope you have a great time!0 -
I know this might seem a bit silly, but is it fairly safe out there? I have never been aboard for a holiday and its just me and joe. And i dont drive either. I ahve arranged transport to take us from the airport to the villa, we are lucky as we also have a pool there. Are the taxi's expensive?0

Whereabouts is the villa? As in any city there are some places that are safer than others! I personally feel safer walking around Torrevieja than Leeds but there are areas I wouldn't do this. Just be sensible with things like handbags and don't leave your belongings on the beach when you go swimming etc. I've been going for the past 7 years at least 4 times a year and have never had a problem but I have heard of bag snatches and break-ins happening.
My parents got a taxi from Alicante airport to Torrevieja last week because their lift got the date wrong and it cost them 45 euros - if you've arranged it through the villa owner I would expect to pay 30 to 35 euros
I'm not sure that Terra Mitica will be open in April but they do have a website if you want to check - only problem is that it's quite a trek without a car!0 -
