Survey - who deals with administration of Childcare voucher payments?
So, it has come to my attention that my wife's HR department pretty much refuse outright to have anything to do with the administration of childcare vouchers. When she first contacted them to obtain the childcare vouchers, they simply pointed her to the provider website and told her to get on with it. When an institution reference number was needed to register, it took an age to elicit one from them. Now, as of the beginning of this tax year, she needs to reduce the voucher purchases as last year (with maternity leave taken into account) she was not a higher rate taxpayer - but this year she is. Again, her HR have told her they can't do anything, and instead offered arrange a call-back to her from CAB!!
Call me stupid, but isn't staff employment related administration what HR departments EXIST for? At my work, the HR set all the childcare voucher stuff up, were extremely apologetic when they forgot to reduce my voucher purchases at the beginning of the tax year and sorted it all out without an issue.
I'm curious to know what experiences other people have had with sorting out childcare vouchers. Does your HR sort it out for you? Do you have to do it all yourself? Is it something inbetween?

In my experience you have to do it yourself. I signed up for the vouchers through a 3rd party called EdenRed - they are basically a platform for the vouchers. The details were sent through to my employer and all they do is make the deduction from my salary and purchase the vouchers. I then have to log onto Edenred and transfer the vouchers myself to my ccpr. If I need to amend the value of the vouchers or stop them I need to fill in a specific form available on the website and send it to my payroll office0

When I was at work and claiming childcare vouchers the payroll dealt with it, not HR. Has your wife tried having a word with her payroll people? They might be able to help her.
I did have to claim the vouchers myself through the voucher provider's website but it was one which my company had chosen as their provider, rather than it being my own choice. I still had to start the ball rolling though.0
