I've just had a guy from N Power at my door telling me the Goverment have split the country into 14 regions and made one supplier responsible for each region. In my case it's N Power and they have to guarantee the lowest price in the area. Whe I said I ahdn't seen anything about this in the press, he said 'Oh it was all over the Broadsheets'.Told him I would take a look on then internet and if i could get a better price I would.
Earlier on this evening he spoke to my wife, who said we check our rates on the internet regular and take advice from Martin Lewis. His answer to that was Martin is paid commission from some from the companies and it has been on watchdog about him.
Is there any truth in this in the first statement about the government, I know the second is utter rubbish.

The country is split into 14 regions but the rest of what he said is complete and utter rubbish.
Basically many years ago in the days of local electricity boards, the country had 14 regions each with its own company responsible for the network and billing, a bit like the water still is today. However, when the governement decided it should all be privatised and deregulated back in the 90's, the billing arm and network arms were split and managed seperately. In some regions electricity companies still own the network arm, but in many cases they don't.
With regards to price, it is in fact the other way round - usually for various reasons the ex-monopoly distributor for a region is more expensive than other suppliers, regardless of whether they still own the network or not.0 -
Avoid these door to door saleman like the plague!!!!
They will tell you anything to get you to sign up and if anything goes wrong with your account the company they are representing will deny any knowledge of them and say there is nothing they can do.
They prey on the elderly and people who will believe their rubbish :mad:0 -
Thanks my suspicions were obviously correct.0

You can't go staining them all with the same brush MoneyMiser. It's not fair really as the majority are hard working honest people.
It's purely negative reputation, if you went to Tesco and a member of staff was rude to you, it doesnt mean the rest will be?
And no I'm not a door 2 door salesman!!!
Need is something you have to have
Want is something you would like to have0
