Beware OneTel's "FREE LEISUREUK TALK" Offer

Beware the "free" offer of LeisureUK Talk for one year plus £20 call credit. This applies to BRAND new customers only. I was with Onetel as a "pay as you go" customer not registered for any plans and without carrier preselect. I am not eligible for the offer. Anybody else caught out?

Hi Adrian, welcome to this forum
Many people in your situation have initially been refused the offer but have then been allowed it after complaining, usually involving a threat to leave OneTel altogether.
Please read the 'Sticky' post entitled 'Get paid £20 for FREE calls'. You will be encouraged by all the success stories.
Don't forget that the offer is due to end tomorrow (31/03/05) unless it's extended again as it was last month!
Also consider call18866 and 1899 for the cheapest peak rate, mobile and international calls.
Best wishes, Graham B0 -

You could try ringing them and threatening to transfer all services to TalkTalk because you're not happy that the free offer doesn't apply to you.
I would ring and calmly state that you wish to cancel all services. They'll probably ask, "why?" At this point just say that TalkTalk are doing same offer so you're moving to them because you're not elligible for the offer with them (OneTel).
As mentioned in various posts, other people have done the same and managed to get the offer of free LeisureUK talk for one year (you may be pushing it for the £20 credit as well). Be aware that they may call your bluff!
Only problem is that both OneTel and TalkTalk's offer of free evening/weekend calls for 1 year end tomorrow (31st March).0 -
TalkTalk have been doing the free evening and w/end calls offer since August last year with different option numbers so I would imagine they will have yet another offer for April0

I had the InternationalTalk package (PAYG as you put it) and switched to the LeisureTalk Package. I had no problems getting the £3.99p/month rebate which completely covers the £3.99p/month line rental. I did not get another £20 call credit though.
I have made a note in my diary (and set alarm on mobile phone) for January 2006 reminding me to cancel LeisureTalk.0 -
Thanks for your advice - I rang OneTel again - they wouldn't budge so asked to cancel all packages. Surprisingly(!) I was transferred to another dept who apologised for the incorrect information on the web site - and arranged for credits to be given. Thanks again.0
