A&L/MBNA Claim deadline?

I have two questions:

1 Do I have a claim? I cant remember how I was sold the policy it was some time in 2003. I believe it was in branch when I applied for the credit card, at the same time as opening a current account.

I dont have the documentation or policy number.

But I beleive I was missold the policy because my employer would have continued to pay me at full pay for several weeks if I became sick. My spending on the credit card was never high and I usually paid off the whole sum each month (and I planned to do from the outset - I had used a card from a different company prior to this in the same way and only switched to the A&L card as it offered 'moneyback' on spending). Also I had an existing condition which had stopped me working before. Had the PPI been properly explained to me, I would have known it was useless for me.

2 Is there a deadline to claim for PPI sold by A&L (now Santander)? I was contacted by one of those no win no fee companies who tried to press me to proceed through them by stating that the deadline for A&l claims is 30th June. I cant find evidence for this, but thought i'd ask in case anyone knows for sure. if there is a deadline how do i get my claim in before then?

Thanks
Penny
Your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured on it.

Only if you suffer a misfortune covered by the policy. You mean "do I have grounds for complaint"
I cant remember how I was sold the policy it was some time in 2003.
Then we have no way of knowing if you were MISsold. If nobody actually advised you (and it seems you have no recollection of being) then it would not have been.

On the contrary. That means you DO have a need because you could have been ill for months (I had a car accident last year which left me unable to work for about six months).

My spending on the credit card was never high and I usually paid off the whole sum each month
That would have been reflected in the premium which is a percentage of the outstanding balance.
Also I had an existing condition which had stopped me working before. Had the PPI been properly explained to me, I would have known it was useless for me.
It might or might not have covered that condition but it would have covered other conditions. However, there is no evidence that you were advised so you are left trying to explain how a non-existent person should have explained this to you.

    No

That is because there is none. They are lying.

The only deadline is that it must be received by the business you are complaining about within six years of the events giving rise to the complaint or, if later, within three years of when you became aware (or ought reasonably have become aware) that you had grounds for complaint.

So you can complain but your arguments seem unpersuasive.
