Hotels in Edinburgh

Hi all,
I'm hoping to go hiking and wild camping with my girlfriend in Scotland for a couple of nights, but would like to visit Edinburgh in the same trip. So the idea is to get a hotel for one night after the camping. I seem to have underestimated the price of hotels though. I've had a look but can't find anything affordable - any suggestions?

The plan is to travel to Edinburgh overnight by coach overnight from London, then get a bus or train to Dalwhinnie where we'll begin our hiking and camping. After two nights I want to stay in a hotel and visit Edinburgh the next day before travelling back to London overnight. I suppose that means we don't necessarily need to stay in Edinburgh, so other suggestions/ideas are also welcome.
I've seen some reasonably-priced youth hotels but I really want a place with a bath.0 -

If you are looking for the budget end, then this is very central with en-suite rooms
http://www.syha.org.uk/hostels-in-scotland/lowlands/edinburgh-central/information.aspxFree is my favourite price!0 -
If you could state an approximate date and a budget that would make it easier to help.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0

I'd agree with the Hostel or Travelodge/Travel Inn options. You won't get cheaper in the Old Town or New Town in my opinion. Not unless you manage to get a deal through expedia.co.uk or one of the other sites which sell rooms in bulk.0

The date is partly dependant on when it's cheap. Sometime between now and the end of July really, but hopefully not later than early July.
The budget is perhaps unrealistic. I was hoping to spend £50 or less. I've never spent more than that for one night, but maybe that's not possible in Edinburgh. The cheapest I can see for a double room in the Edinburgh Central youth hostel is £84. So I'm looking for some kind of deal (I was thinking something along the lines of Travelodge as mentioned as they're more likely to have some kind of deal).
I think there are 9680 Avios I can use, but it looks like I'm better off trying to get that to 10,000. They're my mum's really but she doesn't want them.0 -
Actually there are some very reasonable prices at Travelodge. If anyone has any great deals I'd be interested but otherwise this looks OK. Thanks all for your help and my apologies - I should have noticed this before I made this thread.0

you could go on Trivago if you have a date
Premier Inns have some rooms at £49 also if you do a search with a flexible date
Don't come to Edinburgh in August as its the festival and rooms prices will be at a premiumThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o
