How do I know if I have been paying PPI?

I originally took a bank loan out with RBS in 2006, since then I have had a few top up loans on top of this and 2 RBS credit cards. I have no idea if I have been paying PPI, nothing shows on my bank statements except the loan repayment itself. I know I should not be paying PPI as I am military.
MY husband has also had a loan with Natwest since around the same time, his bank statement shows the amount paid and the the interest charged and nothing else so how can he tell if he is paying PPI?
Sorry if this is a basic question that is asked all the time but the whole thing really seems confusing to me.

Thank you for any help in advance, I really am clueless on all this.

Check your DD list at your bank, if they still have these details the loan numbers will be there, give the Banks you have the loans from a call and ask for a copy of your agreements.

PPI would show on the CC statements each month, if you have no statements and just the card number, then call them and ask if you had PPI on the cards, if this fails, get a copy of your credit card and see if the loans and cards are there, if they are there will be the last 4 digits of the account numbers, you could use these.
