Hi everyone
After going through some old files, my wife and i discovered that on a previous halifax mortgage , we thought we had been paying Life and CIC cover, when it turns out we had as well as an income protection, per person costing us £45 per month in total for over 5 and a half years until we changed mortgage in april 2008. I contacted the Halifax on friday and they registered a complaint and said we would be recieving a letter within 5 days from them. Any ideas as to what this letter will say ? my wife and i both accepted that we wanted the life and cic cover but didnt know we had the other, the cover was arranged over the phone via a halifax office in Ireland back in Jan 2003. We both had good jobs at the time and excellent sickness cover so it is something we would never had taken up. The total premiums were £72 per month however we had assumed that this was for both of our lives and figured it was expensive because we knew CIC was exactly that.
Having had this shock, i have also called AA loans today as i had successive loans with them and the lady there registered my call and said they would also be sending me out a letter within 5 days regarding these personal loans. I initially took this out in 2003 and paid it off early in 2008 november. Once again, this wasnt an insurance i was expecting to be paying for.
My query is this, what are these letters likely to say and what chances are there that we could be repaid for this.
Regards

The letter they will send out is an acknowledgement that they have received your complaints, this can sometimes take 2 weeks, they next letter may either be a win, a rejection or asking for more time, they have 8 weeks in total to give you a final response.
If you were mis sold the loan PPI you will win, with the Mortgage one, you will have to wait and see as some MPPI is not reclaimable, if this is the case then they will let you know.0 -
thanks amersall, does that mean that we dont need to do anything now other than just wait ?0

As i said, we are not quibbling the Life and CIC as that is what we wanted and believed we had taken out. My wife is a teacher so has excellent sickness and death in sevice benefits, she has neve taken this thing on anything else so we are adamant that this isnt what we would have taken0 -
update: called on the 8th of june, got letter today stating they are processing the complaint ( for mortgage ).0
