If someone threatens to take you to the county court, who chooses where the case is held?

The defendant I believe.
My recollection is that when you get served with a county court summons, there's a section of the form (that you need to return to the court) where you fill in where you want the case heard if it is your intention to enter a defence.0 -

If you defend a MCOL, then the case is transferred to the defendant's local court.
The claimant can then request any hearing to be held at their local court, and the court will decide.0
