PPI problem - bank has no paperwork!

Hello all!
I'm looking for a wee bit of advice. I've been sending out the template letter from this website to my creditors about PPI and if I took any out any PPI on the accounts.
RBS - who I have two overdrafts with, replied saying they have "misplaced" my account opening paperwork so can't tell me if I took out PPI.
Is there anything further I can do or is this a brick wall?
Thanks in advance!
Lou

Hi
Do you know how long ago these accounts opened/closed?
I understood that data are held for up to the last 6 years, some even longer.
By just requesting for the copy of the agreement (this I assume was the letter you sent)?
If the account is no longer active they do often state that they are not obliged to keep or send these if the account is no longer open.
However, a Subject Access Request (SAR) may help, where other information maybe enclosed within. So anything in relation of the PPI should also be disclosed.
There is a full SAR template letter below, if you have already done this, then please ignore, but otherwise you can try this if you want to, you enclose £10 cheque or postal order (if the 3 accounts you stated were with the same business) then one SAR and the one payment as stated above is sufficient.
They have up to 40 calendar days to comply.

If you banked with them, you can request the SAR by just enclosing the bank account details, and they should send details of all accounts you have taken out with them.
Hope this helps, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
