When to ROTIVATE!!

Hi all..

So I ended up putting the RoundUp down all over the existing weeds/mess.. I asked the neighbours either side if there was anything worth keeping and they both said nothing had been done to the garden in 15+years!!!!

Now my question is this... I put it down, as directed on the container, 3 days ago - nothing has happened thus far - all still looking very green!
I have now managed to get my hands on a rotivator - how long should I leave the RoundUp before churning it over - I am also going to add some chicken poop pellets and compost into the mix... NETTOS finest John Innes!!

Thanks all so much for any ideas... ;)

Doesn't it say on the packet? I would leave it at least three weeks at this time of year. The plants are killed from the roots up, that's why it takes so long.

I know when I have used it in the summer its about a week before the weeds start to turn brown and couple of weeks after that before they are dead.

Re rotivating ..... as well as waiting for the weeds to die, you will need the soil to dry out too. On clay, it's certainly too wet to rotivate at the moment - but an interesting way of making clay pots! :)

You really want the soil to be dry on top and crumbly before you rotivate. Not only does it make for an easier job, but it prevents the soil from compacting too.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

My son has made clay pots :D next door neighbour just had a new fence put up and he has collected all the clay and made a load of pots

Needs to be applied to actively growing 'plants' - things are growing very slowly at the moment - give it a chance to work! Remember, weeds and grass will re-emerge in a month or two after using Roundup!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
