My rights for a dodgy new roof

In January a roofing company started to put a brand new roof on my house.
After 4 visits - each lasting several days - where different sub-contracted roofers would turn up to erect the roof and subsequently repair errors left by the previous roofers, I am left with a mess.
I have had the roof surveyed by a professional surveyor and he has told me that - for a variety of reasons - it is not fit for purpose and will need to be re-built from scratch.
I have paid for a significant chunk of the work by credit card and wonder what my options are. I have held back around £2,000.
The roofing company will not want to start the job again - and I don't want them to. Equally though, they will not want to refund my money.
Is it reasonable of me to ask for a refund at this stage - remembering that they have had 4 opportunities over a 4 month period? Or is it reasonable for them to want to start again, rather than give me my money back?
If they refuse, do I have a reasonable claim to put to the small claims court?
Am I entitled to any additional reasonable compensation given that I have taken time off work to give them access to my house and to reflect that I have had scaffolding outside my house for 4 months, and counting?
I want to be reasonable here, rather than fly off the handle but I just don't know how to approach it to get the best result.
Many thanks,
Dave

As you have a report by a professional surveyor you need a section 75 refund from your credit card co. see the above titles on how to do it.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

What do you feel you have lost by having scaffolding on your house?
You may be able to claim something for days off if you charge by the day and actually have a loss to prove.Thinking critically since 1996....0
