As for wearing £300 shoes to Tesco's, well no big deal. It is reasonable to expect to come back with undamaged shoes
Exactly, I regularly carry an £800 handbag to the shops, don't see the big deal about how much his shoes cost. As long as he can prove it I would expect Tesco to compensate him appropriately. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

I think its probably more that we have had a few threads where people have damaged their shoes in stores lately, and all, coincidentally, were wearing rather expensive shoes. It's just a little odd how nobody ever damages their £20 market loafers, only their £200 Ugg Boots etc
I can understand why people are a tad suspicious.0 -

He probably didn't notice anything until the next morning.
I bet his missus did. I bet the first thing she said was 'where the !!!! are those pradas that I bought you for christmas?'
This is where men and women differ... a woman could never walk home wearing someone else's shoes without realising regardless of how drunk she was."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I like your comment, but perhaps it's because those that have damaged their £20 loafers aren't bothering to post about it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Probably so, incidentally, just in case I should ever find myself posting a similar tale here I do confess to frequenting B&Q in my Ugg boots.....in fairness they are the tattiest things in the world now but worth a small fortune to foot fetishers on eBay I suspect0 -
Sorry for the delayed response,
They are Balmain Paris shoes, reduced from £600 to £300, (and tesco can easily google it). Worst thing is that I cant find the reciept for it :-(
I only went it to buy some fruit and thought might as well pick up some paint, but either way, they I didnt expect to spill lol.
People do damage their £20 shoes, but usually wouldnt cause too much concern, as they would cough up without much fuss.
Tesco will get back to me on Monday.0 -

In that case, forget the £300, £600 is the replacement cost (unless they are regularly available "on sale" for £300) which is what Tesco need to pay to put you back in the position you were in before the accident.
If they try the "part worn" argument then I'd accept it provided they can tell you where you can buy a replacement part worn pair.
Finally, don't stress about the lack of receipt, you have the damaged shoes. Receipts would only be important if the shoes had been lost or stolen.0 -
OP - at least you shoes are now guaranteed water-resistant for at least the next 5 years...."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

£300 for a pair of shoes
£800 for a handbag. :eek:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
will be interesting to see what response Tesco come back with so do keep us posted. When I was at college, I worked in a chain diy store - I was being taught how to mix paint one day by a member of staff who to be honest was less than friendly. Anyhow, the paint mix demonstration was going well until said (experienced) staff member pressed the "mix" button only to find she hadn't secured something properly and said paint went everywhere! (including all over her and over the customers she was mixing it for!) I unfortunately escaped being splattered with paint ! :rotfl:0
